Mounted Games, also called Skill-At-Arms, are both a means to an end and an end in themselves.
Mounted Games are excellent training for the joust. These games accustom both rider and mount to handling equipment and riding in unusual (at least in the modern riding world) circumstances.
Mounted Games are also enjoyable as a skill in themselves. Such competitions are often part of jousting tournaments. These competitions can include:
The IJA offers certifications for Skill-At-Arms (as well as for ground crew, jousting and ground combat). When you feel you have sufficient experience at mounted games, the IJA-Canada will endeavour to prepare a certification video to send to the IJA International for assessment. With time, the IJA-Canada will develop the expertise to assess people "in house".
